The objectives of this course are:
1. To develop a strong portfolio of work on a chosen theme.
2. To experience and participate in critical dialogue.
3. To develop an understanding of the connection between one own's work and the history of art.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS
1. Weekly meetings with the instructor and a
one page project proposal due at or just after the first meeting .
2. Mandatory attendance at all critiques.
3. Reading as assigned, and research.
4. Museum and Gallery visits as relevant.
5. A portfolio of 12 to 14 photographs mounted and archivally matted; due finals week
or an equivalent project.
6. For Art 604 an eight to ten page paper consisting of research and analysis of the work of photographers or artists relevant to the student's chosen photographic topic. An outline and bibliography are due at Midterms.
CLASS MATERIALS
.Notebook/sketchbook and a portfolio for presentation.
GRADING -will be based on effort, originality of concept,
technical execution and professional presentation of the work
Paper if relevant ( ART 604).
